you intimated your desire to return to the Colony

but under the Military Service Act you have now

Governor that although strictly speaking you

must be regarded as having resigned in February

last your appointment in the Colonial service,

he is willing to reinstate you at the end of

the war in the post which you formerly held

and to allow your pensionable service to date

from the date of your original engagement under

the Hong Kong Government but that he is unwilling to

continue any allowance to you from Hong Kong Government

funds between the date of your resignation from the

Colonial service in February last and the date upon

which you may ultimately embark to return to take up

your appointment under the Hong Kong Government.
